Tangerine, Spearmint, and Lime...Oh My!

These three oils are so much fun to have on hand!!! (See that diffuser in the picture? That is the LUMO diffuser, and it's my new favorite.)


Did you know that you can use all three of these oils in cooking! I love to put a drop of tangerine or lime into my water (ONLY glass or stainless steel bottles or glasses, please...Thankyouverymuch).


And, adding a drop of Spearmint to your lemonade will give you a minty Pick-me-up and cool you down.

So, why ELSE are these oils great???


Spearmint: Spearmint is widely used in gums, candies, and dental products for its minty taste, and to promote fresh breath. Spearmint has been used throughout history for its digestive benefits*. Its sweet flavor and aroma are both cleansing and uplifting, making it ideal to help with focus and evoking a positive mood. Spearmint is milder than Peppermint, making it a more widely used option in homes with young children and those with sensitive skin. In cooking, Spearmint is often used in salads, drinks, and desserts, and it can also be used in homemade salad dressings.

Uses:

  • Diffuse to uplift mood - especially great for homes with little ones

  • Apply a drop to toothbrush before brushing teeth for fresh breath

  • Add a drop to a shot of water and swish in mouth as a substitute for mouthwash

  • Add a drop or two to any dessert, drink, salad, or entrée for flavoring and to promote digestion*

  • For occasional stomach upset, add 1–2 drops to water and drink*

Lime: doTERRA Lime essential oil is refreshing and energizing in both aroma and taste. Limes are frequently used in entrées and beverages for their fresh, citrus flavor. Uses:

  • Put some Lime on a cotton pad and use to help remove grease spots and sticker residue.

  • Add a drop of Lime to your drinking water for enhanced flavor.

  • Add 1 drop to your shampoo for added cleansing properties.

Tangerine: Tangerine has been used for centuries in Chinese culture and herbal health practices. The essential oil supports healthy digestion and metabolism.* Tangerine has a sweet, tangy aroma, similar to other citrus oils, that is uplifting. Tangerine is known for its cleansing properties, and for supporting a healthy immune and respiratory system.* Like Wild Orange, Tangerine essential oil can be used to help soothe anxious feelings and manage stress. A popular and flavorful addition to desserts and drinks—from water to fruit smoothies—Tangerine can be used as a substitute in almost any recipe calling for lemon or orange.

Uses:

  • Add 2–3 drops as a flavoring in cake, brownie, and cookie recipes

  • Use with Lavender or Serenity to bring calm and relaxation - these can be diluted with a carrier oil and applied topically or diffused together at bedtime

  • Add 1–2 drops in water, smoothies, teas, or lemonade

  • To energize and uplift mood, place 1–2 drops in the palm of your hand, rub together, and cup over the nose and mouth for 30 seconds or diffuse throughout the room

  • Apply to flex points or abdomen to promote feelings of happiness. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize sensitivity
